Umpire's decision will be final in all matters All matches will be played with "hard tennis" balls. Vibha will provide balls and wickets for all the matches. The matches shall be played on the games will be played as per the Standard Laws of Cricket with some exceptions to suit the tournament.
The exceptions and other tournament rules are as follows:
1. The tournament will be played in a knock-out format.
2. Each game shall be played between two teams of 10 (Max 8 plying per side) players each.
3. Each game will have a maximum of Ten (10) overs per side. Each over is defined as 6 balls
4. Each team will have a minimum of 4 bowlers. 2 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs each.
5. All the overs are bowled from one end of the pitch only, as determined by the umpires.
6. There will be no LBWs. However, leg byes will be permitted as long as the batsman has attempted for a shot.
7. Bonus runs if hit the banners. Banners are placed outside the boundary.Practice your upar cuts Straight Drive to score more than maximum by hitting the sponsor's banners. (More details on match day)
8. 10 mins break between innings.
9. If a team is late by 15 mins, then the opponent gets a walkover.
10. Each team will begin with a new tennis ball. If ball goes missing, old ball will be used if it is available, else a new tennis ball will be used.
11. While hitting on the off side, make sure the ball doesn't cross the compound wall of the school, unless you want to get out. More details on match day).
12. A substitute fielder shall be permitted, for injured player. The substitute fielder cannot bowl or bat.
13. If a player from the fielding team, retires in the middle of the match for some overs, then the player is required to spend as many overs on the field before the player can return to bowl. (E.g., If a player retires for 2 overs, then the same player is required to return to the field and field for 2 overs before he can start bowling)
14. There is NO last man batting. The inning is completed at the fall of the 7th wicket.
15. Each team is permitted to register a maximum of 10 players,although only 8 players can bat or bowl in any one game. All 10 players should have been registered, signed the waiver form, and should not have played for any other team in the tournament. The teams should submit the playing 8 at the beginning of the match.
16. Each team should have a minimum of 6 players (registered only) on the field to begin playing a match.
17. Players shall be allowed to use any regulation cricket equipment including gloves (batting and keeping), guards (elbow and loin), etc.
18. Boundaries shall be defined by the tournament committee and explained to both captains at the start of every match.
19. All tournament rules are subject to change by the tournament committee and/or the umpires.
20. If the tournament extends due to unforeseen circumstances (weather, etc), new schedule would be planned to conduct the remaining matches and all captains would be informed.
21. Smoking and Use of Tobacco or any of its by-products is not encouraged during VPL also in and around the Holy Cross Campus.
22. Each innings should be completed in 40 mins.

Free Hit:- When a bowler bowls a foot-fault no ball (over stepping of the popping crease), the immediate next ball is designated a “Free Hit”, the batsman cannot be ruled out in any dismissal modes other than; run out, handled the ball, hit the ball twice and obstructing the field.
