Vibha is back with MathChamps 2011.This is a Math Contest for 2nd through 5th graders. This is intended to be an engaging Math experience that challenges and stimulates the participants. Our partners Alpha Math Station, is Houston’s premier math learning center for K-8th grade students. Through the Alpha Math learning methods students build a strong foundation for success in Algebra and other higher level math courses. Participate in this competition and help a child in need.

Goal

• To provide a challenging, engaging mathematical experience, that is both competitive and educational to every child participating and promote math education.
  
• To give every participating child an opportunity to make a difference and help better the lives of millions of underprivileged children world wide
  

How to Participate

Registration

Registration fees: $15 per child.
All proceeds collected from the event will go to charity. In addition to the registration fee each participant is encouraged to donate a book new or old as a gesture of giving to other’s not as fortunate as themselves.

We have seats available in both batches. It will be first come first serve.

Guidelines And Regulations

Who

Children between age 7-12 (2nd to 5th grade). This competition is open to all children that are residents of Houston TX. Awards are excluded to children who are related to the organizers.

Time

• Batch A – 2nd and 3rd graders – 10:00 AM
  
• Batch B – 4th and 5th graders – 11:15 AM
  
• Prize distribution at 12:30 PM

SORRY, WE WILL NOT ALLOW LATE ENTRANCE.

• Please plan to be at the venue at least 30 minutes in advance.
  
• Participants are advised to bring their own pencils and erasers.
  
• It is a short answer format test, no calculators are allowed.

Format

The contest will adhere to a short answer format. The competition is designed to engage students with modest background in problem solving while still stretching the best students in the city.

Awards

The first three highest scorers in each grade will receive trophies with Certificates of Merit. The Highest scorer in each Batch will receive a grand prize and will feature on the event website.

Parking Information

Parking in Rice university is available in paid parking lots. No special event parking rates are available, participants are responsible for their own car parking. The cheapest car parking option is the Greenbriar lot ($1/day/entry), however it is located farther away from the venue of the event. The closest one is the North lot - rates are $1/15 minutes with a maximum of $11/day.
