- Uttara - Vibha Mumbai Team
On February 7th 2009, Vibha – Mumbai team had organized a visit to various projects carried out by Children Toy Foundation. The purpose of the visit was to understand the projects & later take necessary measures/ action to help the CTF team. We started the day meeting the CTF members at City of Los Angeles school in Mahim. We had to travel to three projects in the CTF van accompanied by the CTF members. The van is well maintained & you feel like kids again in that van.(photos attached)
We first visited the project at Kane Nagar municipal school. Children there were eagerly waiting for the van & were glad to see us. They selected kids from 3rd & 5th standard & started with a few warm up exercises, a puppet show & later the kids were given brainstorming games like puzzles, math’s game etc.(photos attached).
The second project was Sion hospital’s Children’s Ward. It was a very touching experience to see the kids who were sick on bed for more than months, forgetting their pain and getting ready to play. Kids were given toys & games to play for around an hour. The parents also forgot about the worries for that span of time seeing their kids playing & being happy.
The third project was a mobile cresh at a construction site. It was amazing to see the creativity & intelligence of the kids who are not fortunate enough to go to school. There they were first made to do a few warm up exercises, made to play games as per the age group, did some craft exercises & later was the singing & dancing session. Must say the kids were quiet in tune too. The whole schedule planned by CTF members for the kids not just makes them more intellectual but also helps in recognizing other talents & potential of the kids.
It was great to see children playing & being so happy. Basic necessities are what children can get from any institutions but toys & games are something they really desire & CTF makes it possible.The children at all the sites were egarly waiting for the CTF people & were so delighted to see them.
At the end of the day it was a memorable & learning experience of how we can spread happiness, make the kids learn in a fun way & identify their overall potential. We almost felt like kids ourselves!!
