The Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. As the number of children with life-threatening medical conditions continues to increase, we must work harder than ever to ensure that every medically qualified child receives a wondrous experience.
The magic created through a wish can have an amazing impact on the health of a child. A wish can provide a sense of empowerment for a child who has lost control of all else in his or her life. By demonstrating that a wish can come true, we encourage wish children to envision a positive future and to remain a hopeful and active partner in their treatment.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 69 chapters in the U.S. and its territories. Granting more than 12,500 wishes a year and 151,000 wishes in the United States since inception, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants one wish every 41 minutes. In its twelfth year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Georgia and Alabama operates on a budget of $3.8 million, and 78% of all funds are used for granting wishes to children.
