When?
Sunday, June 29th, 2008.

Where?
Kite flying area at Shoreline Park, Mountain View, CA.

What time?
Registration starts at 7.30AM. Run/Walk kicks off at 8.30AM. Festivities and Carnival continue till noon.

I cannot participate in the 5K/10K run/walk, can I donate instead?
We would love your participation. But, we welcome your donation and are very much thankful for it. Click here to pledge an amount and support Vibha's cause.

Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Receipts will be mailed to your house.

How does The Dream Mile 5K/10K Walk/Run work?
Walkers and runners are all ages and participants can walk as individuals, families, groups, work teams and more. Refreshments are available before the Walk and Run and throughout the course, and volunteers are stationed along the Walk route to insure that walkers stay on course.

How long is the Run/Walk?
There is a 5K path and a 10K trail. You can choose the path that best suits you.

Can my kids participate?
Yes. Given that Vibha’s vision is to provide a brighter future for underprivileged children, it makes perfect sense to get your children involved. However, parental discretion is advised for distances. And, of course, the Carnival provides a wide range of games and activities for children.

What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses and extra sunscreen. Serious runners wishing to participate in the Race should wear their running gear.

Is the Run/Walk a race?
Yes, The Dream Mile 2008 is a Race with USATF certified trail and Professional Timing provided by "On Your Mark" events. Winners in each category will receive medals as prizes.

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?
The event goes on. If it rains hard and it becomes too difficult to run/walk, the route will be shortened.

How do I register for the Dream Mile?
Register online.
Register at the venue on the day of the event at 7:30AM.
Register by mailing in a completed registration form.
Send us an e-mail for more info.

Can I register/pay on the day of the event?
Yes, it is possible to pay on the day of the event. However, we prefer if participants pre-register since that will give us an idea of the expected number of participants.

What is a Pledge?
A pledge is an amount that is donated by an individual who wishes to support out cause.

How can I raise pledges?

Are pledges a must?
No, they are not a must, but pledges are a very important part of the Run/Walk. Pledges constitute a significant portion of the funds raised through the Run/Walk. Pledging is one way of showing you support the cause. Becoming a fundraiser is another – not only are you saying you wish to support the cause , but you also help us spread the word by trying to involve your friends and family.

How is the money raised through pledges used?
The money you raise through the pledge drive is used to directly fund child development projects.

What is the Carnival?
The Carnival is a fun-filled event for all ages, with various games and activities. It will include game stalls, face painting, mehndi and lots of other fun activities to provide a relaxing and festive atmosphere after the Walk. There will also be some entertainment and music for a post Walk celebration.

Will there be food?
Yes, there will be some light refreshments and picnic food available.

Is this only for children?
No, The carnival is for everyone. However, most of the activities are geared toward children.

Are there any kids activities planned?
We have a 1.5 K walk for the kids. There will also be lots of games after the walk to keep them occupied.

How many people will be there?
We expect around 750 participants including children and 100 other volunteers and spectators.

My New Red Shoes
My New Red Shoes provides brand new clothing and shoes to Bay Area homeless children so that they may start their first day of school with pride.

Door Step School (DSS)
The mission of the DSS is to use innovative programs to bring education to the poor children in urban areas.

DSS conducts classes close to where they live or work. It identifies communities, like migrant workers' children, street children, fishermens' children etc, and tries to establish Non Formal Education classes for them.

All proceeds from The Dream Mile 2008 will benefit Vibha supported projects in India (including DSS - Door Step School) and My New Red Shoes.
