[edit] Information for registrants
Thank you for registering for the Vibha Dream Mile 2008! We are very excited about the upcoming "Dream Mile Walk/Run" and hope you are too! Read below, for important information regarding race packet pickup, parking and other details you will need to know on the day of the event.
[edit] Packet Pickup Information
All pre-registrants can pick up their registration packets from RunTex and Rogue Training at the following locations on 10/3 (Friday) and 10/4 (Saturday).
Runtex location
Address: 422 Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78704
Times: 5-7 pm on 10/3 (Friday) and 11 am-3 pm on 10/4 (Saturday)
Rogue Equipment store
Address: 500 San Marcos, Austin, Texas 78702
Times: 10:30 am - 2:30 pm on 10/4 (Saturday)

The parking lots (lots 70, 80 and 99) at the intersection of Robert Dedman Dr. and Red River St. are available for parking during weekends. Click here for the location of the parking lots on google maps and walking directions from the lots to the race start point.
Please bear in mind that the race route will be cordoned off an hour before the race starts.
Driving directions to the parking lots:
When heading South on I35:
Take exit 235B toward Manor Rd
Turn right at Clyde Littlefield Dr/Manor Rd
Turn left at Red River Street
Turn right at Robert Deadman Drive.
When heading North on I35:
Take exit 235B toward Manor Rd
Turn left at Clyde Littlefield Dr/Manor Rd
Turn left at Red River Street

A detailed map for the 5K route will be available in the runners packet. We will also provide information before race start and our volunteers will assist runners along the course. The route maps are available online at the following links
[edit] Event day check-in
All registrants who have not checked-in during our packet pickup sessions will need to do so at the Registration Desk when they arrive on event day. You will receive bibs, route maps and other race-related information. Please try to arrive early so that you can start the race in time. (Registrations/Check-in desk will open at 7am). We will also be holding on-site registrations for those who would like to join the Dream Mile Walk & Run on race day.

Date: Sunday, October 5, 2008
Venue: UT Campus, East Mall Fountain (San Jacinto and 23rd St.)
Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
Race Timing: Card finish
On-Site Registration: Starts at 7:00 a.m
Vibha will make arrangements for all pre-registrants to pick up their registration packets a day or two prior to the event. Please check our website closer to the event date for more information.
All participants receive a free Vibha Dream Mile T-shirt. Pets and strollers are welcome.

Bring your children along! Children can participate in the 5K run/walk for free. There are also plenty of fun games, exciting prizes, and give-aways for children.

- Children (under 12) - FREE!
On-site registration costs additional $5.

Welcome to the 8th Annual 5K Run/Walk event in Austin, TX! On October 5th 2008 Austinites will take a few miles for a million dreams. The Dream Mile 2008 - Vibha Austin's 8th Annual Run/Walk promises to be a fun-filled event, with something for everyone. Join us for a day of fun. Run or walk around UT campus starting at the picturesque UT fountain, enjoy the great food, get tapping to the lively music, play games at the Kid's Carnival, meet other runners/walkers, get to know our enthusiastic volunteers… you’ll have a blast and you’ll be helping a great cause at the same time!

[edit] Beneficiary Profile
The mission of the Door Step School (DSS) is to use innovative programs to bring education to the poor children in urban areas.
DSS conducts classes close to where they live or work. It identifies communities, like migrant workers' children, street children, fishermens' children etc, and tries to establish Non Formal Education classes for them.

All proceeds from The Dream Mile 2008 will benefit Vibha supported projects in India (including DSS - Door Step School) and Capital Area Food Bank of Austin, TX.
