Well, all of us are now basking in the glory of our Cricket World Cup Victory. We are the champions and we feel proud to say so. Though the world cup is over, the cricket fever is here to stay with Vibha Premier League.

Vibha warmly invites all cricket lovers to spend the weekend of 16th and 17th April 2011 at the VPL. Watch and cheer our cricket enthusiasts flex their muscles, settle old scores, and above all enjoy the game they love.

Vibha is providing a grand platform for 12 teams from across Bangalore to come together to not only celebrate their passion for the game but also make a huge difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

Shristi Special Academy

A preschool program for rural children. The focus of the program is to provide rural children with preschool facilities found in urban centers. The preschool facility provides not only early learning experiences but also screening for early development disabilities and provide remediation. The program also provides breakfast and lunch to children to meet their nutritional needs.

Sikshana

Is an organization that works under a Government of Karnataka initiative by 'adopting' public schools with the goal of improving graduation rates and educational standards. Vibha is working with Sikshana in 11 public schools in the Bangalore and Kanakpura school districts. Each school is provided a target of improving their children's scores by 15% annually in standardized tests, as well as improving the 10th, 7th grade graduation rates.

Match Dates: The matches will be held in April 16-17th 2011.

• Tennis Ball cricket.
• Total 12 Teams: 12 (A-L) (any names, to be prefixed/suffixed by vibha project names)
• 6 matches among them in the first round ,A vs B, C vs D, etc. 6 team winners into second round. W1-W6
• 3 matches in second round : W1 vs W2, W3 vs W4, W5 vs W6. 3 winners to 3rd round S1,S2, S3
• 3 matches among S1,S2, S3 (each team plays 2 matches). S1 vs S2, S1 vs S3, S2 vs S3.
• We will decide the finalists from S1,S2, S3 depending on points. Incase of tie, we can have super over.
• In total we would have 6+3+3+1 = 13 matches.

The games will be played in a knockout stage format. Every two teams will compete with one team moving forward. This will proceed until there are three teams left. Then a round robin format will take place, with each team playing two games and earning points. The winner will be decided on points.

VPL Tournament format graphics

Rules:

• 10 player (8+2substitutes) per team.
• 10 overs per innings.
• Each team will have a minimum of 4 bowlers. 2 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 3 overs each.
• Free hit in case of no balls. In the Free hit call, the batsmen/runner can be out only on Run outs, not on stump outs or catch or bowled.
• No ball is a foot no-ball.
• Bonus runs if hit the banners. Banners are placed outside the boundary.
  • Straight Drive - 8 runs lofted. 5 runs for Grounded shot.
  • Upar Cut behind the 3rd man - 8 runs lofted and 5 for Grounded shot. (any style of shot)
• 15 mins break between innings.
• If a team is late by 15 mins, then the opponent gets a walkover.
• Each team will begin with a new tennis ball. If ball goes missing, old ball will be used if it is available, else a new tennis ball will be used.
• Rest of the rules are Standard Cricket rules.
