Vibha Milwaukee supports Epilepsy Foundation of South Eastern Wisconsin

June 29, 2008: When an opportunity surfaced to work for the local community, a group of committed Vibha Milwaukee volunteers took on the opportunity. The event was 8th Annual Brainstorm Walk/Run in support of the Epilepsy Foundation of South Eastern Wisconsin held at Veteran’s Park in Milwaukee Downtown.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Wisconsin is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all those affected by seizure disorders/epilepsy through education, direct services, advocacy and the support of research for the prevention and cure of epilepsy. It serves the diverse and special needs of over 10,000 children and 20,000 adults in the local community. Vibha as an organization is committed to help the cause of children and the group decided to actively take part in this initiative and help the Epilepsy Foundation.

On a perfect Sunday morning, the Vibha volunteers were out there early, helping to kick-off the preparations on the day of the event. The volunteers attended a briefing the previous week to get acquainted with the organization, their cause, and assessed the volunteer requirements on the day of the event. Finally, six of the volunteers: Anish Jain, Ashish Rastogi, Leena Ghosh, Marie Yang, Meenal Atre and Abraham Pabbathi joined in to help for the great cause.

Vibha volunteers had a first hand experience with organizing a big Walk/Run event. Starting from setting up Registration Counters, cleaning up the park area, carrying heavy loads, sorting race shirts, and manning the race track, the volunteers participated in everything. It was great fun running around and doing so many things at the event.

The volunteers had a great time organizing Kids’ race and chilling out with burgers, brats and soda. Vibha Milwaukee thanks Shirley Slomowitz, Secretary and Leslie Coleman, Special Events Manager of Epilepsy Foundation SE Wisconsin for giving us the opportunity to contribute in and experience such a purposeful event.
